Do you accept donations of books or other materials?

Answer

Yes, we are currently accepting donations. Thank you so much for thinking of the Library.

We welcome donations of the following items:

  • Hard-covered and soft-covered books in good condition
  • DVDs and Blu-ray
  • Books on CD
  • Music CDs

We are unable to accept the following items:

  • Encyclopedias more than 5 years old
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Audio and video cassette tapes
  • Software
  • Homemade recordings
  • Items that are damaged, incomplete or in poor condition

The Library accepts donations during open hours. You may donate up to four bags or boxes of materials per household per day. You may request and complete an optional donation receipt form at the Customer Service Desk.

You may donate materials at either the Customer Service Desk or the loading dock:

  • If you do not need assistance: Drop off items at the Customer Service Desk.
    • If you only have a few items to donate: Drop them through the Book Donations wall slot in the Library Lobby.
  • If you would like assistance unloading items from your vehicle: Visit the Customer Service Desk and we will arrange for someone to meet you at your vehicle at the loading dock.

We are unable to add all donated items to the Library's collection. We give items to the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library to sell. Book sale proceeds benefit the Library.

For more information, see the Library's donation policy.

If you would like other ways of supporting the library, please visit the Friends of Sunnyvale Public Library.
